Lighting Parts and Lighting Accessories

Lighting parts and lighting accessories include lamp tubes, phosphors, filaments, bases, and other lamp parts. Lamp tubes are used with light emitting diodes (LED), incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and many other lighting products. They are usually made of cut-glass or quartz. Phosphors are substances which glow in a sustained manner after being exposed to light or energized particles. They are used with white LEDs, cathode ray tubes (CRT), fluorescent lamps, neutron detectors, alpha-particle scintillators, and X-ray screens. Lighting component parts and accessories also include filaments, thin wires that are heated white-hot with an electric current; lighting fixtures and lamp sockets, devices which mechanically-hold and electrically-connect lamp bulbs to wiring; and lamp bases.

Lighting parts and lighting accessories include many different types of lamp tubes. Examples include LED lamp tubes, energy-saving lamp tubes, fluorescent tubes, plant-growth lamp tubes, and germicidal lamp tubes. LED lamp tubes have a transparent body, two lamp caps, electrode pins, and pedestals. As their name suggests, they are designed for use with light emitting diodes (LEDs). Energy-saving lamp tubes are designed for high-efficiency lamps which last many times longer than traditional lighting products. Fluorescent tubes are used with fluorescent lamps, devices which seals mercury and an inert gas inside a glass tube. The inside of the fluorescent tube is coated with phosphor, which produces visible light when excited by ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Fluorescent tubes and other lighting parts and lighting accessories may be used with black lights, tanning lamps, grow lamps, germicidal lamps, electrode-less induction lamps, compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), and cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL). Lamp tubes for black lights are coated with a phosphor that converts short-wave UV to long-wave UV instead of to visible light. Tanning lamp tubes and grow lamp tubes contain different phosphor blends. Germicidal lamp tubes are made of fused quartz that is transparent to the short-wave UV directly emitted by the mercury discharge. CFL lamp tubes and CCFL lamp tubes can be used in place of incandescent lamps. Designations for these lighting component parts and accessories include U, 2U, 3U, 4U, H, 2H, 4H, T4, T5, and PL.
